Boundaries within CCPM
Andy Watt's presentation at the TOCICO 2011 Conference entitled "A new breakthrough tool for reducing changes in projects by 50%" is worth a look at in the context of Eli's 5th case study. 

Although not exactly working with "unknown factors" but indeed with some expected task iterations, Andy presented how, with the use of the S&T under guidance from Eli Goldratt, significant reductions in total project lead time was achieved for auto design and manufacture (including all components). The focus was on the pre-execution phase i.e. design, planning, communication, collaboration and alignment between all stakeholders (100's). The disconnects in these areas where the underlying cause of lead time blow outs during execution.

It struck me that Andy's presentation made the boundary of CCPM quite clear and much more can be gained by having more clarity and being more aligned at the front end.
